Abstract
The current treatment of peripheral vascular disease is optimized by a collaborative approach among practitioners with expertise in vascular medicine, vascular imaging, open surgery, and endovascular intervention. The Handbook of Endovascular Peripheral Interventions is a comprehensive guide written by a multi-disciplinary group of expert authors to provide practical, focused chapters on the assessment and interventional management of peripheral vascular diseases. Covering all aspects of percutaneous peripheral vascular interventions, each chapter of this highly-illustrated book provides a brief background, etiology, clinical presentation, imaging, and percutaneous treatment of different vascular conditions. Importantly, Tips of the Trade and How I Do It sections within each chapter make the handbook practical for daily use and quick reference. Edited by Dr. Christopher D. Owens (Division of Vascular Surgery) and Dr. Yerem Yeghiazarians (Division of Interventional Cardiology), from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, the Handbook of Endovascular Peripheral Interventions is a collaborative effort between interventional cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and interventional radiologists who are experts in the field. Since each subspecialty brings unique expertise and experience to their work, this handbook will be a valuable resource for both beginning and advanced cardiologists, surgeons, and radiologists currently working in peripheral vascular interventions.

Abstract
This book presents up-to-date information on clinical and research applications of imaging in peripheral arterial disease (PAD). It provides high-quality images useful not only in the diagnosis of PAD but also for use in clinical trials aimed at the development of novel therapies such as angiogenic agents and stem cells. The book begins with coverage of the applications of the four major imaging modalities in a clinical setting: ultrasound, computed tomography angiography (CTA), magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), and digital subtraction angiography (DSA). It also discusses the ankle brachial index (ABI) as a screening technique to establish the presence of PAD. Subsequent chapters focus on the advantages and limitations of various research applications of imaging in PAD including contrast ultrasound for measuring perfusion, MRI for assessing perfusion, energetics, plaque volume, and characteristics, and radionuclide imaging for perfusion and inflammation. Imaging in Peripheral Arterial Disease: Clinical and Research Applications is an essential resource for physicians, researchers, residents, and fellows in cardiology, radiology, imaging, nuclear medicine, diagnostic radiology, and vascular surgery.

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is when fatty materials called plaque build up in the arteries that supply blood to the brain, organs, and limbs (arms and legs). Over time, the plaque can narrow your arteries. This can lower or stop blood flow. Blocked blood flow can cause leg pain, gangrene (dead body tissue), or amputation (removal) of the foot or leg. Abstract
If you have PAD, you have a higher chance of having a heart attack or stroke. This pamphlet explains what PAD is, how to find out if you have PAD, what problems PAD can cause, and how PAD is treated. Information about when to call your doctor or nurse is included.
