Care is taken to consider all recent technical developments and new indications, and the diagnostic performance of different imaging modalities is carefully compared. In addition to proficient radiological knowledge, communication and close co-operation among the various specialists involved are essential for successful patient management. Emergency radiologists must not only acquire a full understanding of the imaging modalities and technicalá requirements, but they should also have appropriate clinical knowledge of the various disorders in order to become valuable contributors to the therapy decision-making process. Emergency Radiology of the Abdomen provides a comprehensive review of the etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation of acute abdominal conditions, both after traumatic events and in the non-traumatic setting.
