Abstract
This concise, easy-to-read book summarizes the current clinical evidence and basic science relating to aging and the skin, assisting the clinician in addressing skin problems in older dermatologic patients. Each chapter focuses on a particular area in which new knowledge has rapidly emerged over the past 5 years, ensuring that the book is completely up-to-date. Recent insights into aging skin from basic and translational science are first discussed, covering the underlying genetics and the potential role of topical agents and procedures in reversing the aging process. Evidence-based prescribing in older patients is then explained, and the evidence relating to treatments for psoriasis, reviewed. Further chapters in Geriatric Dermatology address non-surgical treatment options for basal cell carcinoma, the increase in and management of sexually transmitted diseases in older dermatology patients, and cutaneous signs of elder mistreatment. Case vignettes and informative illustrations assist the reader in quickly grasping the connection between an age-related process and its clinical impact. Geriatric Dermatology is written for dermatologists, research scientists with translational interest, geriatricians, and gerontologists.
Contents
Dermato-pharmacology in Older Patients -- Pruritus in Older Patients -- Aged-Related Changes in the Nails -- Hormonal Regulation and Systemic Signals of Skin Aging -- Psoriasis Therapy in the Geriatric Population -- Supportive Skin Care in Older Patients -- Long-Term Care Dermatology -- Evidence-Based Treatment of Actinic Keratoses in Older Adults -- Recent Advances in Skin Cancer Treatment in Older Adults.

Abstract
An era of global population aging is upon us. By 2030, one in eight people will be over age 65. Since women generally live longer than men, the health and welfare of postmenopausal women will become a significant public health concern. This book offers a comprehensive review of the life changes associated with menopause, both at the dermatological and physiological level (e.g., hormonal, immunological) and at the subcellular level. It critically examines the dermatological, biological, and clinical challenges to postmenopausal health and well-being and the current and emerging therapeutic interventions. The authors advocate a holistic approach, emphasizing the need to view the menopause as a life transition with various facets rather than as a series of distinct medical conditions to be managed. Our goal is to offer a comprehensive resource to the researchers, clinicians, physicians, and helping professions whose mission is to promote the health and well-being of women around the world.

Abstract
This comprehensive reference compiles all current and latest information on aging skin. Highly structured with a reader-friendly format, it covers a wide range of areas such as basic sciences, the different diseases and conditions which occur with aging (from malignant to non-malignant), the latest techniques and methods being used such as bioengineering methods and biometrics as well as toxicological and safety considerations for the elderly population. It also illustrates the global consumers’ sociological and psychological implications, ethnicity and gender differences and includes marketing considerations for this elderly group. This unique and comprehensive guide will become the main reference textbook on this topic.
