Abstract
This richly illustrated atlas, compiled by authors with extensive experience in the field, offers a step-by-step guide to the surgical treatment of tumors, and congenital diseases of the skull base and nasal sinuses. Particular attention is devoted to the various techniques employed for extirpation of tumors and reconstruction of the skull base and Paranasal Sinuses. In order to facilitate understanding of the different approaches, clear surgical illustrations are presented alongside the high-quality intraoperative photographs. Whenever appropriate, technical tips are provided and briefly discussed. This atlas will appeal to a broad audience of residents, fellows, and consultants in different fields of medicine, including surgeons (head and neck, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, ophthalmology, maxillofacial surgery) and oncologists.

Abstract
The first two sections of this text address endoscopic and keyhole surgical procedures for cranial base and deep brain structures. These sections provide a comprehensive, state-of-the art review of this minimally invasive field and will serve as a valuable resource for clinicians, surgeons and researchers with an interest in cranial base surgery. The philosophy, techniques, indications and limitations of endoscopic and keyhole cranial base surgery are covered in detail. This reference includes a discussion of the basic principles of these approaches as well as the preoperative planning, intraoperative pearls, and reconstruction techniques. The thorough descriptions of the practical and technical aspects are accompanied by extensive illustrations, figures and operative images. Extending beyond the technical details of these procedures, this text provides a third section that focuses on a thorough analysis and comparison of the endoscopic, keyhole and traditional open approaches to specific intracranial regions. Utilizing a “target-based” approach, the utility of each surgical technique is evaluated in regard to accessing pathology of the anterior, middle and posterior fossa cranial base as well as the deep central regions of the brain. All chapters are written by experts in their fields and include the most up to date scientific and clinical information. Endoscopic and Keyhole Cranial Base Surgery will be a valuable resource to specialists in optimizing surgical results and improving patient outcomes.

The therapeutic options in the treatment of skull base lesions are explained and a systematic overview of relevant diseases is included. A strong emphasis is placed on practical aspects of skull base surgery: classic surgical approaches and also methods where there has been rapid recent development, such as stereotactic radiation therapy and interventional neuroradiology. Several international specialists systematically describe the treatment of traumatic lesions, tumors, vascular lesions, and developmental anomalies. Surgery of the Skull Base is aimed at neurosurgeons, ENT surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, neurologists, and radiologists.

Abstract
This book covers all aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of tumors of the jugular foramen: cranial base lesions that present particular diagnostic and management difficulties and remain challenging to remove despite advances in surgery and interventional neuroradiology. The authors have developed novel concepts and surgical techniques relating to management of the facial nerve, reconstruction of the cranial base, and resection of large tumors with intra- and extracranial extension. These techniques, as well as anatomic studies in cadavers, are presented by means of surgical photographs, illustrations, and videos. Tumors of the Jugular Foramen will be of interest to all specialists involved in the management of these challenging tumors, including neurosurgeons, ENT surgeons, neuroradiologists, neurologists, neurointensivists, radiotherapists, oncologists, and physiotherapists.

Abstract
Recent developments in our understanding of the complex anatomy of the cranial base and the biological behaviour of tumours in this area have significantly improved the outcome of patients with skull base tumours. The contributors present a systemic introduction and summary of contemporary knowledge in skull base surgery. The book has three major parts: (i) clinical, pathological and radiological management of patients, (ii) open and endoscopic surgical approaches to the skull base, and (iii) outcome, morbidity and postoperative follow-up of patients. The book is meant for medical students, residents and consultants in various disciplines, including otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery and oncology. The emphasis is on the clinical approach to the patient rather than on surgical techniques per se.
Contents
Skull base surgery in the 21st century -- Symptoms, signs and physical examination of patients with skull base tumours -- Benign tumours of the anterior skull base and paranasal sinuses -- Malignant tumours of the paranasal sinuses and skull base -- Radiological imaging of skull base tumours -- Open surgical approaches to the anterior skull base and paranasal sinuses -- Endoscopic skull base surgery -- Vestibular schwannoma management and treatment approaches -- Evaluation and treatment of malignant tumours of the temporal bone -- Quality of life issues in patients with skull base tumours.
