During your surgery, you received medication that affects how well birth control medications work. You need to be aware of this if you are on any type of hormonal contraceptive (birth control medication). Sugammadex (Bridion™) is a medication that helps to speed up recovery from the muscle relaxant used during your surgery. Sugammadex may lower how well your hormonal birth control works for up to 7 days (1 week). You must use a back-up birth control method for 7 days after your surgery.

If you are using an oral contraceptive (birth control pill), take it as usual. Types of hormonal birth control and back-up methods are listed.
