Abstract
This book offers a highly informative guide to surgical remedies for massive hemorrhage and the management of consumptive coagulopathy during cesarean section. Featuring extensive illustrations and videos coupled with detailed anatomical figures to offer readers vivid insights, it discusses the history of uterine hemostatic methods and explains their evolution and the benefits of using compression sutures. Further, it addresses the treatment of consumptive coagulopathy with massive hemorrhage, which can be complicated during cesarean section. It is broadly known that ligation of the internal iliac artery is not always effective in hemostasis of uterine bleeding: the success rate of hemostasis is only 40-60%, because uterine blood flow during pregnancy differs considerably from the normal flow. Moreover, the number of complex collateral arteries formed during pregnancy make the situation more complicated, especially in the case of placenta previa. This book introduces new clinical practice guidelines for critical obstetrical hemorrhage, helping obstetricians successfully manage consumptive coagulopathy. It offers a new and indispensable reference guide for all obstetricians, not only for residents, but also for experienced practitioners.
Contents
1. History of surgical remedies for obstetrical uterine haemorrhage -- 2. Uterine compression sutures for atonic bleeding -- 3. Double vertical compression sutures -- 4. Vertical compression sutures with contrivances -- 5. Compression sutures removal -- 6. Critical obstetrical hemorrhage.

Abstract
This well-illustrated book presents the state of the art in suture materials and provides clear, step-by-step guidance on how to tie the most frequently used knots. The opening section addresses terminological issues and describes how the biological and mechanical properties of suture materials may impact on healing potential. The basics of knot biomechanics are explained, highlighting the risk of failure of knots and sutures if their capacities are exceeded. Subsequent sections give precise instructions on the tying techniques for the various open and arthroscopic knots, including the square knot, the surgeon's knot, half hitches, and sliding and non-sliding knots. The special instruments available to facilitate the tying of arthroscopic knots are thoroughly discussed, equipping the surgeon with the knowledge required to ensure optimal handling of the soft tissues and manipulation of sutures in arthroscopic surgery. A literature review on suture materials and arthroscopic knots completes the coverage. This book is published in cooperation with ESSKA. It will be a valuable instruction manual for surgeons in training and will supply more experienced surgeons with an excellent update that will further enhance their practice.
Contents

Abstract
Since publication of the first edition of this book in 2012 vitreoretinal surgery has marched with huge steps forward. In 2012 23G was standard, today 25G and 27G are the most commonly used gauge sizes for vitrectomy. In 2012 the cutting rate was 5.000 cuts/min and today with the development of a novel vitreous cutter the cutting rate has increased to 16.000 cuts/min. The advent of 25G/27G made the instruments smaller and surgery less traumatic. Practical Handbook for Small-Gauge Vitrectomy: A Step-By-Step Introduction to Surgical Techniques, 2nd Edition focuses on these new developments and features new chapters on PVR detachment, intraocular tumour, macular translocation, sub macular hemorrhages and ocular trauma. The surgeries are demonstrated step-by-step and the material is shown in detail and videos visualize the surgery. This book will serve as an immensely useful guide for all surgeons who are intending to make use of this exciting and increasingly used technique.

Abstract
This book describes step by step how to operate on the patient with diabetic retinopathy. After thorough explanation of surgical planning, including the potential need to perform individual procedures at different time points, each stage of the vitrectomy is clearly documented with the aid of color photographs and drawings as well as online surgical videos. Variations in approach are described that are potentially of value, depending on whether one is dealing with a straightforward diabetic retinopathy or a difficult case of tractional retinal detachment. In the second part of the book, a series of case reports are presented that illustrate the surgical procedures applicable in different circumstances. In addition, pearls and pitfalls are highlighted. Small-Gauge Vitrectomy for Diabetic Retinopathy will be an ideal source of information and guidance for all who are embarking upon such surgery or wish to further hone their skills.
