Abstract
This volume focuses on acute trauma to the adult elbow, including fractures, dislocations, tendon ruptures, and vascular and nerve injuries. Each chapter addresses anatomical key features, surgical and conservative therapeutic procedures, postoperative regimes and complication strategies. International elbow experts explore a range of surgical approaches, the usage of modern implants, advances in surgical techniques, and pearls and pitfalls for each trauma entity. Moreover, the authors describe total elbow arthroplasty and radial head replacement in detail, outline current clinical outcomes, and provide recommendations for therapeutic approaches and salvage measures. The book enables the orthopedic surgeon to deal with the entire spectrum of acute simple and complex elbow injuries in adults.

Abstract
Anesthesia for Trauma is a comprehensive, clinically oriented text for practitioners and trainees in anesthesia, pain management, and critical care. It covers core topics, from initial assessment and blood and blood products, to the multi-trauma patient and trauma by major anatomical region. Burns receive especially extensive coverage. Special considerations when administering anesthesia to traumatically injured children, pregnant women, and older people are reviewed, as are foundational areas such as clinically relevant physiology and the growing role of trauma simulation in training. Readers will find leading edge coverage of microvascular surgery, pain management, and critical care of trauma patients as well as up-to-date chapters on trauma in the military, civilian trauma systems, and disaster management. The book concludes with a unique 'must-read' chapter for all clinicians on the link between substance abuse and penetrating trauma.

Abstract
Despite numerous recent studies and exciting discoveries in the field, only limited treatments are available today for the victims of acute brain and spinal cord injuries. Animal Models of Acute Neurological Injuries, Second Edition, provides a standardized methodology manual designed to eliminate the inconsistent preparations and variability that often inhibit advances in this specialized research field. In the 10 years since publication of the first edition of this book, some animal models have become obsolete, some have stood the test of time, and newer models have emerged to enhance our knowledge of acute neurological injuries. The second edition continues to offer the research community tested approaches for this area of investigation. As with the first edition, top experts have developed and contributed these animal models. The book’s focus remains hands-on, practical applications of the models, rather than a theoretical approach. Each chapter contains a proven procedure enhanced by clear figures, illustrations, or videos. This new edition presents its readily reproducible protocols with clarity and consistency to best aid neuroscientists and neurobiologists. As with the first edition, the second edition is comprehensive and cutting-edge. Animal Models of Acute Neurological Injuries, Second Edition, is an ideal guide for research professionals, at all stages of their careers, who wish to pursue this vital course of study with the proficiency and precision required by the field.

Abstract
Demonstrating current management techniques for traumatic fractures and dislocations of the upper extremity, this atlas utilizes a practical, how-to structure, discussing philosophy, approach, patient positioning, prepping, draping, and surgical techniques for each type of injury. Generously illustrated with intraoperative photos, the chapters of this atlas are arranged by anatomic location, from the clavicle and shoulder down to the fingers, with each chapter briefly describing the thought processes involved in choosing surgical interventions and applied anatomy approaches, fixation selections, and techniques. Actual case examples, cadaver photos and plentiful radiographs illustrate the text for a strongly visual presentation, and a list of "Eglsederisms"--pithy bits of advice for residents and veteran surgeons alike--set the stage for a highly demonstrative resource for orthopedic and trauma surgeons, residents and fellows.

Abstract
Compartment syndrome is a complex physiologic process with significant potential harm, and though an important clinical problem, the basic science and research surrounding this entity remains poorly understood. This unique open access book fills the gap in the knowledge of compartment syndrome, re-evaluating the current state of the art on this condition. The current clinical diagnostic criteria are presented, as well as the multiple dilemmas facing the surgeon. Pathophysiology, ischemic thresholds and pressure management techniques and limitations are discussed in detail. The main surgical management strategy, fasciotomy, is then described for both the upper and lower extremities, along with wound care. Compartment syndrome due to patient positioning, in children and polytrauma patients, and unusual presentations are likewise covered. Novel diagnosis and prevention strategies, as well as common misconceptions and legal ramifications stemming from compartment syndrome, round out the presentation. Unique and timely, Compartment Syndrome: A Guide to Diagnosis and Management will be indispensable for orthopedic and trauma surgeons confronted with this common yet challenging medical condition.
Contents

Abstract
This book describes current, evidence-based guidelines for damage control interventions across the field of trauma care with the aim of enabling clinicians to apply them to best effect in daily clinical practice. Emphasis is placed on the need for trauma surgeons and their teams to recognize that optimal damage control in severely traumatized patients depends upon the combination of immediate assessment, resuscitation, and correct surgical management. The book opens by examining the evolution of damage control and the very significant impact that military damage control interventions have had on civilian emergency health care through improvements as simple as bandaging and tourniquets. Damage control measures in different specialties, including neurosurgery, orthopedics, vascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, anesthesia, and critical care, are then covered in detail. Readers will also find helpful information on a range of other important topics, such as the role of pre-hospital care providers, damage control within the emergency department, adjuncts of damage control, and damage control in austere environments. This book is a must read' for all clinicians in the trauma field.

Abstract
This book provides comprehensive information on Diagnostic Imaging for polytrauma patients. It provides extensive and detailed explanations of the semiotics of traumatic injuries, the correlation with the trauma's mechanism of action, and the meaning and appearance of prognostic indicators. The book begins with a discussion of the management of polytrauma patients. Particular attention is given to the role of radiology in management, and each chapter includes an assessment of the radiological findings to be used as a clinical decision-making tool. Several typical cases are shown, supplemented by a wealth of images. The book offers a useful tool both for radiologists, who will find in it a valuable guide to correctly diagnosing traumatic injuries, and for clinicians, who will come to better understand the findings of the diagnostic tests performed on their patients.

Abstract
This book covers diagnostic images of common and rare fractures for nearly every part of the human body, based on a large number of clinical cases. The highlight of this book is that both of three-dimensional X-ray images and CT/MRI images of thousands of fracture cases are presented for comparison and further discussion, according to the framework of AO classification. The first chapter gives a general introduction of various diagnostic imaging techniques for fractures, with attention to their advantages and disadvantages. The following chapters present detailed radiological images of upper extremity fractures, lower extremity fractures, axial skeleton fractures, and epiphyseal lesions. It helps readers to recognize the difference between various diagnostic techniques, and to select optimal imaging techniques. With the illustrative figures, this book is a valuable tool to orthopaedist, radiologists, trauma surgeons, emergency room doctors, professional clinical staff, and medical students.
