Abstract
This book presents a vast collection of radiologic images of cases seen in a very busy emergency room. It encompasses common and very unusual pathology and every imaging modality. The book is divided into four parts on pathology of the vascular system, the chest, the abdomen and pelvis, and the reproductive organs. At the beginning of the presentation of each condition, the diagnosis and expected imaging features are set out. Images obtained with the modalities that best depict that particular abnormality are then presented, with marking of the salient pathology for easy understanding. Brief captions cite the clinical indication, explain the marked abnormal imaging features, and identify the modality and its characteristics. Whenever possible, differential diagnosis is covered using further images so the reader can see the spectrum of imaging features that distinguish pathologies despite similar clinical presentation. In addition, guidance is provided on selection of further modalities to confirm the diagnosis. The book will be of value to a wide audience: It will help residents to analyze different diseases and relate pathophysiology to imaging and assist students in appreciating what is normal and what is abnormal. It will serve as a useful guide to the busy practicing radiologist, especially when encountering an unusual case. Finally, it will aid clinicians in understanding the complexity of these acute clinical problems and in delivering better focused treatment.

Abstract
This book provides comprehensive information on Diagnostic Imaging for polytrauma patients. It provides extensive and detailed explanations of the semiotics of traumatic injuries, the correlation with the trauma's mechanism of action, and the meaning and appearance of prognostic indicators. The book begins with a discussion of the management of polytrauma patients. Particular attention is given to the role of radiology in management, and each chapter includes an assessment of the radiological findings to be used as a clinical decision-making tool. Several typical cases are shown, supplemented by a wealth of images. The book offers a useful tool both for radiologists, who will find in it a valuable guide to correctly diagnosing traumatic injuries, and for clinicians, who will come to better understand the findings of the diagnostic tests performed on their patients.

Abstract
Most ingested foreign bodies pass through the gastrointestinal tract without a problem. However, both ingested and inserted foreign bodies may cause serious complications, such as bowel obstruction or perforation. Foreign body aspiration is common in children, especially those under 3 years of age, and in these cases chest radiography and CT are the main imaging modalities. This textbook provides a thorough overview of the critical role of diagnostic imaging in the assessment of patients with suspected foreign body ingestion, aspiration, or insertion. A wide range of scenarios are covered, from the common problem of foreign body ingestion or aspiration in children and mentally handicapped adults through to drug smuggling by body packing and gunshot wounds. Guidance is offered on diagnostic protocols, and the value of different imaging modalities in different situations is explained. Helpful management tips are also provided.
Contents
Plain film and MDCT assessment of neck foreign bodies -- Tracheobronchial foreign bodies -- Foreign bodies of the gastrointestinal tract -- Intra-abdominal foreign bodies: gossypiboma and abdominal wall meshes -- Abdominal compartment syndrome due to hepatic packing -- Intravascular foreign bodies -- Foreign bodies as complications of biliary stents and gastrointestinal stents -- Intravascular foreign bodies -- Foreign bodies as complications of endovascular devices -- Retained intracranial and intraspinal foreign bodies -- Role of magnetic resonance imaging in diagnosing foreign bodies -- Soft tissue foreign bodies -- Foreign bodies and penetrating injuries.

Abstract
This book is both a personal review of experience in the diagnosis of child abuse and its differential diagnosis, intended to instruct beginners, and a reliable source of information for the more experienced health care provider. Emphasis is placed on normal findings that simulate abuse, true and false diagnoses of metabolic bone disease as the cause of fractures, abusive head trauma, and the problem of zealous abuse-denying "experts." Plain radiography is emphasized, with appropriate mention of, ultrasound, CT, MRI, - in detecting childhood abuse is clearly explained, and individual chapters focus on neuroradiological evaluation and the radiological assessment of abdominal, thoracic, and subcutaneous abnormalities. Guidance is provided on how to exclude a range of alternative diagnoses, on the documentation of concerns over potential abuse, and on the needs of the clinician in relation to the radiologist. Recognizing Child Abuse in Radiology will be of value for radiologists in training and practice, for health care workers, and for other interested professionals.

1. Introduction and Generalities -- 2. Normal Skeletal Findings Not to Be Confused with Abuse -- 3. Fractures Raising the Question of Abuse -- 4. Metabolic Bone Disease and Other Alternative Reasons for Fractures -- 5. Thorax, Abdomen, and Soft Tissues -- 6. Skull, Subdurals, and Brain -- 7. The Spine -- 8.
