This pamphlet is a French translation of “Infection Prevention and Control" pamphlet 1441. The role of the Infection Prevention and Control team is to help other health care providers prevent and control infections by: tracking infections, promoting good hand hygiene and other infection control practices, managing an outbreak or outbreaks, and providing education to all health care providers and volunteers. Infection prevention and control is an important part of patient safety. About one in nine patients will get an infection while in hospital. Common infections may include C. difficile diarrhea, pneumonia (a lung infection), bladder infections and wound infections.
