Abstract
"We are pleased to bring a second edition of the Neurology volume to the 5-Minute Consult series. This book is intended to present current clinical information to several groups: - Busy clinical practitioners in neurology general practice, emergency rooms, and non-neurologic specialties who need a reference source where they can quickly refresh their knowledge about the basics of a neurologic condition - Residents and students seeking rapid access to basic data about diagnosis and treatment for various neurologic conditions - Patients and families who want quick information about their diagnoses and referrals to patient information sources and support organizations Neurology is an area of medicine that incites anxiety and discomfort for many students, nurses, and physicians who have not trained in the specialty. Effective therapeutic interventions continue to expand and flourish; every practitioner must understand the diagnosis and treatment of basic neurologic conditions. Information is provided in a structured format that allows easy access and rapid assimilation. We have attempted to offer relevant and current references. We hope that this rapid information source will help all to approach patients suffering from neurologic disorders with more confidence. "--Provided by publisher.

Abstract
Each dermatologist that was board certified after 1992 is required by the American Board of Dermatology to take a recertification exam every ten years. One of the major components of the exam is to be able to identify clinical photographs of approximately 200 skin diseases, and while there are other components to the test, they vary according to subspecialty. However, everyone is required to identify the images, so several months before the exam, the American Board of Dermatology releases a list of the skin diseases that will be tested, but does not provide the images or reveal which ones will appear. Review of Clinical Conditions for the Dermatology Recertification Examination provides a thorough, concise review of clinical images of the specific conditions that the reader will be required to recognize during the American Board of Dermatology recertification test. In addition, concise key clinical features for each image will be provided that will assist the reader in recognizing the clinical images on the examination, enabling them a more efficient way to study for the test without having to look up images online or in a large text book. Written by a board certified dermatologic surgeon who recently took the recertification exam, this book proves indispensable to dermatologists taking the exam or residents who want a quick reference of the clinical appearances of the main conditions generally encountered by a dermatologist.

Abstract
The field of adipose tissue biology has been expanding at a very rapid pace in the last few years. Numerous advances have been made since publication of the first edition of this book, in terms of basic adipocyte biology, understanding of the determinants of obesity, distribution of body fat and weight loss, as well as the mechanisms linking excess adiposity to various co-morbidities. Adipose Tissue and Adipokines in Health and Disease, Second Edition contains updated chapters from the previous volume but as the field has evolved, some areas covered in the first edition have been refocused to address the new knowledge. The volume is divided in four sections: the first two deal with basic adipose tissue and adipokine biology, while the last two address the problem of obesity and alterations in adipose tissue function from an epidemiological and clinical standpoint. The chapters are written by experts in their fields and include the most up to date scientific information. Adipose Tissue and Adipokines in Health and Disease, Second Edition is a useful resource for physicians interested in adipose tissue biology and basic scientists who want to know more about applied aspects of the field. The book targets endocrinologists, residents and fellows, internists, nutritionists and general practitioners who are exposed to an ever-expanding obese population.

Abstract
Each chapter of this new book on advanced lower GI endoscopy and endoluminal surgery focuses on the thought process and step-wise technical approach to the condition and procedure listed. By using this unique method, practitioners ranging from surgeons-in-training, gastroenterologists-in-training and those early in their career to senior colorectal specialists and gastroenterologist who want to incorporate or improve their advanced endoscopic skills will be able utilize techniques and learn from this gathering of experts. The guiding principle of this work is to create a resource for surgeons and gastroenterologists that extends beyond the currently available texts, and that surgeons and gastroenterologists can turn to when wanting to "brush up" on techniques, find a useful "tip or trick" for a complex patient, or simply learn a reproducible methods for advanced endoscopic procedures. This unique book highlights current knowledge, demonstrates standards of medical care, and provides clear step-by-step reproducible techniques even for the most advanced procedures. Beyond the simple application of technical knowledge the book addresses the deeper questions about the optimal "next step" in dealing with more complex patients. International experts also address future challenges and innovations in lower gastrointestinal endoscopy. Finally, it focuses on specific "tips and tricks" that experts in the field have learned. The format follows that of both a "how to" manual as well as an algorithm-based guide to allow the reader to understand the thought process behind the proposed treatment strategy. Throughout the text, each author provides an ongoing narrative of his/her individual techniques along with color illustrations and diagrams to "personally" take the reader through the crucial steps of the procedure, and key points of patient care inherent to that topic. Additionally, where appropriate, links to online videos will give the reader an up-front look into technical aspects of EMR, ESD, endoscopic stent placements, CELS, as well as NOTES. This book will be useful to colorectal surgeons, general surgeons, and gastroenterologists who want to learn or improve their skills in lower gastrointestinal endoscopy and advanced endoscopic interventions. Furthermore, this book will be of particular interest to the surgeons-in-training, and gastroenterologist-in-training that are often called upon to manage a variety of colorectal conditions through an endoscopic approach.

Advanced Procedures for Interventional Pain Management: A Step-by-Step Atlas is for physicians that know the fundamentals of pain medicine and want to push their knowledge further. Through easy-to-digest bullet points, extensive diagrams, hundreds of figures, and expanded legends beneath each illustration, this compendium covers techniques such as uoroscopic guidance and radiation safety, endoscopic transforaminal discectomy, endoscopic direct-percutaneous discectomy, transforaminal myelogram, percutaneous facet fusion, percutaneous sacroplasty, vertebral augmentations, percutaneous tumor ablation, percutaneous spinal fusion, minimally invasive spinal decompression (MILD), Interspinous Spacer Placement and advanced neuroaugmentation techniques like high frequency stimulation and DRG stimulation. This book also has a dedicated section on Regenerative Medicine with chapters on platelet rich plasma, stem cell therapy, and intradiscal regenerative therapy. Each chapter has a strict chapter format that includes the indications and contraindications for each procedure, a list of equipment and drugs, a step-by-step illustration-focused how-to, a list of possible post-procedural complications, and bullet-pointed clinical pearls and pitfalls. Within each chapter the authors will also cover the variations of each procedure due to different equipment. This book is ideal for pain medicine fellows, spine surgeons, and interventional pain physicians who want access to the best minds and specialized procedures in a single package.

Abstract
This unique resource offers an in-depth, comprehensive look at different types of mental health needs of transgender and gender diverse youth, how these intersect with gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation, and provides practical information on how to ethically, responsibly, and sensitively care for these patients. Affirmative Mental Health Care for Transgender and Gender Diverse Youth: A Clinical Guide begins with three introductory chapters which contain practical information regarding assessment, psychological interventions, and the potential medical and surgical interventions that are indicated for youth with gender identity concerns. The remaining chapters are illustrated by multiple cases build around overarching chapter themes. Each case chapter opens with broad questions applicable to clinical practices, while the cases themselves focus on a particular co-occuring mental health condition. The case chapters are structured with intersectionality in mind, including elements of ethnic, racial, and cultural diversity, and the patients range over the full developmental spectrum, from pre-pubertal children to older adolescents. cases range in complexity as well, to provide readers with the tools they need to evaluate patients, and to assist in the decision of which presenting factors to prioritize in treatment at which time. Ending each chapter are clinical take-home messages, closing with additional practical knowledge that can be applied to other cases providers may see in their own practices. Written by expert clinicians in the field, Affirmative Mental Health Care for Transgender and Gender Diverse Youth: A Clinical Guide is an ideal resource not only for child and adolescent psychiatrists, but for clinicians across all mental health disciplines working with gender non-conforming youth, and who are interested in providing informed, affirmative, and intersectional care.

Abstract
This concise, accessible book covers anesthesia for hepatico-pancreatic-biliary (HPB) surgery and transplantation, based on randomized clinical trials, meta-analyses, case series, reports, and hands-on experience. The anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and clinical consequences are discussed, and the close ties between HPB resection and transplant anesthesia are explored. The content reflects current real-world practice, as liver and pancreatic transplant surgeries have substantially improved in terms of blood-loss reduction, fast tracking and reduced risk. The book also addresses anesthetic aspects in connection with the recently introduced and rapidly expanding practice of laparoscopic surgery; with enhanced recovery; and with pancreatic surgery. Anesthesia for Hepatico-Pancreatic-Biliary Surgery and Transplantation is intended for aspiring HPB and transplant anesthetists, anesthesia trainees, and consultants with experience in HPB anesthesia who want to see whether or not they’re up to date on the current standards.

Abstract
This book highlights the increase in thyroid tumors and NET and demonstrates the growing importance of circulating markers in diagnosis as well as treatment and follow-up. Dramatic technical improvements have heightened the clinical impact of well-established, conventional biochemical markers. In addition, more recent genetic and molecular approaches have provided innovative molecular markers. In this context, effective communication between clinicians and laboratory physicians/scientists is essential in allowing all those involved to fully profit from these exciting advances. In this comprehensive, up-to-date book, authors from different laboratory and clinical areas link laboratory and clinical topics. Analytical problems such as interferences, false-negative and false-positive results are discussed in depth, and flow-charts offer insights into identifying and avoiding them. Illustrated clinical cases detail the clinical role and limitations of different tumor markers. Lastly, it explores health technology assessment and economic issues. This is a valuable resource for endocrinologists, oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, scientists and technologists who want to keep abreast of the latest developments.

Abstract
The present book intends to provide a comprehensive guide on the field of robotic bariatric surgery. It covers all the stages to fulfill credentialing for performing robotic surgery, from an introduction to the robot device until comprehensive descriptions of surgical procedures. Also, robotic surgery is presented as an institutional program and we describe how to establish a robotic program in a hospital environment. The currently accepted and most common procedures – sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass and duodenal switch – are described in detail, with a step-by-step description of the techniques, followed by a wealth of photos and videos for each case. Special attention is given to the employment of robotic bariatric surgery in exceptional conditions, such as in super-obese patients, reoperations and revisional procedures. Critical issues, for the success of the robotic surgical interventions, such as anesthesia, are also addressed. Finally, the outcomes of robotic bariatric surgery are described, including long-term weight loss, improvement and resolution of comorbidities and improvement in quality of life. Bariatric Robotic Surgery is the first book specially devoted to this modality of surgical intervention. It is a fundamental tool for surgeons, residents and fellows who want to start a robotic bariatric surgery program. The book also helps experienced robotic surgeons to keep contact with the various available robotic surgical techniques.

There are a number of diagnostic, interventional, and surgical management options available, with some of these being more suited to a large prostate than others. The various treatment strategies and their evidence base are discussed. Valuable tips from expert authors who are experienced in the management of the particularly large prostate are included to allow readers to be confident when managing this increasingly important and prevalent group of patients. This book is of particular use to healthcare practitioners who manage men with BPH in the outpatient or emergency setting, as well as those in the operating theatre who want further tips on how to deal with the particularly big prostate.
