- This book addresses health disparities commonly encountered in pediatric and adult pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine, providing a definitive reference on this prominent issue. Expert authors explore questions such as: * What is the evidence that respiratory health disparities exist? * What do we know about the causes of the disparities? * What are the clinical implications? * What can be done to address disparities and thus achieve respiratory health equality? Recognizing the magnitude of this problem, the American Thoracic Society (ATS) Executive Committee created a Health Equality and Diversity Committee, with an initial mandate of defining respiratory health disparities and respiratory health equality in the United States. This book will follow the format of a workshop on respiratory health equality held before the 2015 ATS International Meeting and led by editor Juan Carlos Celedón. Written by the workshop presenters and other distinguished guests, this book will focus closely on major risk factors for disparities in respiratory health, and potential approaches to eliminate such disparities. - The present book intends to provide a comprehensive guide on the field of robotic bariatric surgery. It covers all the stages to fulfill credentialing for performing robotic surgery, from an introduction to the robot device until comprehensive descriptions of surgical procedures. Also, robotic surgery is presented as an institutional program and we describe how to establish a robotic program in a hospital environment. The currently accepted and most common procedures – sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass and duodenal switch – are described in detail, with a step-by-step description of the techniques, followed by a wealth of photos and videos for each case. Special attention is given to the employment of robotic bariatric surgery in exceptional conditions, such as in super-obese patients, reoperations and revisional procedures. Critical issues, for the success of the robotic surgical interventions, such as anesthesia, are also addressed. Finally, the outcomes of robotic bariatric surgery are described, including long-term weight loss, improvement and resolution of comorbidities and improvement in quality of life. Bariatric Robotic Surgery is the first book specially devoted to this modality of surgical intervention. It is a fundamental tool for surgeons, residents and fellows who want to start a robotic bariatric surgery program. The book also helps experienced robotic surgeons to keep contact with the various available robotic surgical techniques.

This syndrome therefore constitutes both a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge Chest Pain with Normal Coronary Arteries has been written by many of the most active international research groups and comprehensively tackles the clinical presentation and the pathogenesis of the condition, as well as its management. Abnormalities of the coronary microcirculation have remained elusive to conventional imaging and researchers appear only recently to be making progress in obtaining much needed information in this field. The functional aspects of the coronary microcirculation, its clinical presentation and prognosis, as well as the diagnostic tests used for the assessment of microvascular dysfunction are important topics highlighted in this book, which also includes useful clinical diagnostic algorithms, thus bringing this subject closer to the practicing cardiologist.
