- Both surgical skill and histological preparation and evaluation are important for successful treatment of various malignant skin tumors. In addition, good knowledge of local patterns of infiltration is required to achieve complete excision. All tumors may show an irregular, often asymmetric, mainly horizontal subclinical infiltration with a wide extent. When deep infiltrations are present, they are also often asymmetric and hard to determine before excision. Until recently these tumor outgrowths have only been detectable using histologic evaluation, but 3D histology is highly sensitive and can detect even very small tumor infiltrations. Very narrow margins can thus be taken for excision, which helps spare healthy skin as only a subsequently targeted re-excision will be necessary to remove all of the asymmetric tumor infiltrations. Therefore the resulting defect will be as small as possible and as large as necessary, and can be adapted to the requirements for aesthetic surgical defect closure. 3D Histology Evaluation of Dermatologic Surgery compares the most commonly used methods in order to give the reader a graphical overview of the current state-of-the-art. The basic principles of various surgical methods and histological workups of the complete 3D tumor margins are described and extensively illustrated to allow better understanding. Furthermore, more complex treatments of larger tumors are also included. Therefore, this book will be vital for all involved in the management of these patients, including practicing and trainee dermatologists, ENT, plastic and facial-surgeons, pathologists and oncologists.

- Surgery for head neck cancer has evolved greatly in the recent years. Appropriate surgical resection with negative margins still remain corner-stone in achieving good oncological outcome. This atlas proposes a new concept of "The Compartment Surgery" to achieve negative margins in third dimensions which is the problem area in majority of cases. Reconstructive techniques have evolved vastly in the recent years with use of microvascular free flaps and this has significantly improved the functional outcome. Performing each step in appropriate manner cumulatively enables us to perform more complex procedures. Theme of this atlas revolves around this fact. This atlas on head and neck cancers takes a fresh stylistic approach where each surgical procedure is described in a step-wise manner through labeled high-resolution images with minimal incorporation of text. This allows the surgeons to rapidly revise the operative steps of a procedure within minutes just before they start a surgery. Head and neck has multidimensional anatomy and surgical treatment requires specific approach for each subsite. This operative atlas covers the entire spectrum of common, uncommon and rare cancers of the head and neck area. Each subsite is addressed in a separate chapter with further subdivisions for surgery of tumors with varying extent. Each procedure is demonstrated with photographs of each surgical step and line diagrams. Commonly used flaps (regional and free flaps) are demonstrated in separate chapter for reconstruction. With over 1000 images, and coverage of both the ablative and reconstructive surgical procedures, this is a technique-focused atlas in comparison to the available comprehensive texts. There are two chapters on very advanced cancers, and surgery in resource constrained surgical units making the book relevant to a wide range of cancer surgeons and fellows-in-training in varied clinical settings.

Verification was performed by measuring the latency of the system as well as the impact on applied dose to a predefined target volume, moving in the leaf's travel direction. Latency measurements in software were accomplished by comparing the target and current positions of the leaves. For dose measurements, a Gafchromic EBT2 film was placed beneath the target 4D phantom, in between solid water plates, and moved alongside with it. Based on the results, a tracking-capable add-on collimator seems to be a useful tool for reducing the margins for the treatment of small, slow-moving targets. Radiotherapy is one of the most important methods used for the treatment of cancer. Irradiating a moving target is also one of the most challenging tasks to accomplish in modern radiotherapy.

After defining the challenges, the authors will quantify and define funds flows and various margins necessary for viability, how providers will be measured and rewarded for quality, and the importance of accurate dashboard of physician performance. - Endoscopy in Early Gastrointestinal Cancers, Volume 2: Treatment covers the detailed information of the indications, techniques and perioperative management of endoscopic resection including endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). Carcinoma of the gastrointestinal tract remained a major health issue worldwide, which is, however notoriously difficult to treat. Endoscopic resection for early neoplasia of the gastrointestinal tract had been developed for more than 25 years. Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a recently developed technique pioneer by Japanese endoscopists. The principle of ESD is to achieve a complete resection of gastrointestinal neoplasia limited to mucosa with adequate circumferential margins. This novel endoscopic technique not only allows the achievement of en-bloc resection for early GI cancers, it also conveys a significantly lower rate of local recurrence as compared to EMR for early gastric cancers. There is an urge for the knowledge in applying these novel technologies for the treatment of early GI neoplasia worldwide. This book on the endoscopic treatment of early GI neoplasia, containing lots of illustrations, artwork and numerous short video clips, serves as a bridge between the recent development in endoscopy and the knowledge of gastroenterologist, endoscopist and surgeons.

Staging information is supplemented visually by line diagrams. Each chapter has a more formal introductory paragraph than in the previous edition, giving epidemiological, clinical, investigative and treatment summary details, and chapter references are updated; specimen type notes new clinical procedures. Other pathology includes updated immunophenotypic expression with use of new antibodies and molecular techniques. The impact of these ancillary investigations on diagnosis, and as biomarkers of prognosis and prediction of response to treatment is summarised.
