Abstract
Neurointervention is a fast-growing subspecialty, and recent trials have demonstrated its role in ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke. This has generated tremendous interest among interventional neuroradiology, neurology and neurosurgery communities. Nevertheless, formal teaching programmes that provide the required experience are limited, and many early career practitioners are not exposed to the crucial technical details essential to safely performing the procedure before they start practising independently. The book presents 100 characteristic case studies to illustrate the salient technical and clinical issues in decision-making and problem solving during the procedure. This book conveys the “real-world” issues and solutions that are not addressed in detail in most books. As such it is a practical teaching book with useful “tips and tricks” on how to handle specific challenging situations, and is particularly useful for fellows in neurointervention training programmes.

Abstract
This book makes a highly innovative contribution to overcoming the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness – still the heaviest burden both for those afflicted and those caring for them. The scene is set by the presentation of different fundamental perspectives on the problem of stigma and discrimination by researchers, consumers, families, and human rights experts. Current knowledge and practice used in reducing stigma are then described, with information on the programmes adopted across the world and their utility, feasibility, and effectiveness. The core of the volume comprises descriptions of new approaches and innovative programmes specifically designed to overcome stigma and discrimination. In the closing part of the book, the editors – all respected experts in the field – summarize some of the most important evidence- and experience-based recommendations for future action to successfully rewrite the long and burdensome ‘story’ of mental illness stigma and discrimination.

Abstract
The book presents five significant areas of learning within professional programmes of preparation most applicable to student nurses and midwives in their pre-registration education but also with relevance to other learners on healthcare related disciplines. This volume has emerged from several sources: the editor’s role as a Director for Learning and Teaching in Adult, Child Nursing and Midwifery and also from an EU funded project looking at quality benchmarks and assuring clinical learning environments (HEALINT). The Francis Report (Francis 2013) and the Shape of Caring Report (Willis 2015) highlighted challenges related to practice learning and mark a renewed focus in its overall significance (Morley et al 2017). In addition to discussions regarding models of support in practice, there is also a clear emphasis on the need for nurses to have the knowledge and skills to undertake more flexible roles and an increasing requirement for nurses to have higher order knowledge and skills at the point of registration, according to the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC 2017). The book will meet these new educational needs especially for educators working in Nurse and Midwife colleges. The new standards of proficiency for pre-registration nursing were published in 2018, with all higher education institutions (HEIs) approved to deliver the programme from September 2019. This creates a demand for a publication which explores the potential impact of a new education approach and issues with preparation (teaching and learning) for nurses and the breadth and dimensions of teaching and learning. NMC proposed roles of Practice Supervisor, Practice Assessor and Academic Assessor will not have a prescribed preparation programme and universities and practice partners will be seeking guidance and direction in developing local programmes of preparation.
Contents
1. Pedagogy for nursing: challenging traditional theories -- 2. Learning in partnership -- 3. Clinical learning environments -- 4. Supervising, supporting learning and coaching -- 5. Inclusive learning, diversity, and nurse education -- 6. Innovative approaches to nurse teaching and learning.

Abstract
The book revisits the causes of persisting undernutrition in India, but moves away from the usual focus on women and children to a broader view of the entire population. It estimates the economic losses resulting from ignoring undernutrition in the adult working population, and questions the current narrow focus of nutrition interventions, suggesting that a family-based approach may provide quicker results and long-term sustainability. It compares the best and worst performing states in the country to glean learnings from both successes and failures and emphasizes the need to hand over the ownership of nutrition outcomes from the state to the community and family for more sustainable results. The book is organized in three sections: Part 1 details the nutrition status of the population, regional variations in nutrition outcomes, and government response in terms of interventions. Part 2 reviews issues and concerns like gender discrimination, poor child nutrition status, ineffective implementation of government programmes in the field, and the possible impacts of emerging issues like climate change. Part 3 seeks solutions from both international and country experiences.
Contents
India's Nutrition Scenario: Issues and State Response -- Changing Calorie Consumption and Dietary Patterns -- Does Gender Still Determine Nutrition Status? -- The Costs of Persisting Adult Undernutrition -- Why Child Undernutrition Persists in India -- Exploring Child Undernutrition Further: Best and Worst Case Scenarios -- The Additional Burden of Anaemia -- Do Nutrition Interventions Work in the Field? Reality Check -- Factoring Climate Change into the Nutrition Scenario -- In Search of Solutions -- A Family-Based Approach to Nutrition -- Making the ICDS Effective -- Improving Nutrition Status: Lessons from International Experience -- Conclusions -- Fast Tracking Nutritional Improvements in India.

Abstract
This book collates evidence of worldwide approaches to both horizontal integration (across disciplines) and vertical integration (across organizations) in diabetes care and describe what was done, what worked and what appeared to be the barriers to achieving the goals of the programmes. Evidence is sought from groups who have developed different approaches to integrating diabetes care in different health systems (such as insurance vs taxpayer funded, single vs multiple organization, published vs unpublished). A final chapter brings the evidence together for a final discussion about what seems to work and what does not. Integrated Diabetes Care - A Multidisciplinary Approach showcases innovative approaches to diabetes, showing the reader new ways by which problems are addressed and their putative outcomes.

Abstract
This book explores the current wider political, social and economic context of hospitals in the public and private sector globally and identifies the push and pull tension between the demands of the quality regulator and the requirements of health care commissioning processes. This book draws on the evidence of what works to improve the quality of hospital services in the development of medical and clinical leadership models. The book seeks to develop a specific paradigm shift in understanding the development of medical leaders by promoting a culture of engagement through participation and one that is defined by the experiences of medical leaders. The editors examine new and emergent models of leadership and their contribution to explain effective and sustainable change and suggest that theoretical models of leadership are often unable to explain many of the practice led challenges presented in hospitals. It will be useful reading for specialists seeking to develop their own learning as a leader and who identify their learning needs.

Abstract
This book presents models describing HIV transmission rates at population level, discussing the main statistical methods and analytical interventions. It also assesses the practical applicability of the various modelling techniques, offering readers insights into what methods are available and, more importantly, when they should be used to address HIV transmission at global level. The book includes realistic simulation models fitted to clarify the rate of HIV mother-to-child transmission (HIV MTCT), and substantiates the conclusions that can be drawn as well as the appropriate time for making global-level clinical decisions concerning people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIVs). Intended for students, academics and researchers, the book offers more than just an introduction to the topic – it also features in-depth, yet easy-to-understand, descriptions of a new mathematical/statistical HIV mother-to-child transmission model, making it a useful resource for clinicians, public health workers and policymakers involved in implementing HIV-prevention programmes at national/global level.
Contents
1. Introduction of HIV Transmission -- 2. Statistical Modeling of HIV Transmission -- 3. HIV Vertical Transmission DTSM Simulation Models: Global and National Prospective -- 4. Abstract
This book focuses on hot issues faced by clinicians in everyday clinical practice, and provides in-depth analyses of both met and unmet needs in the management of psychiatric disorders. It has been repeatedly shown that the needs of patients, relatives, the community at large and those of the governmental bodies only partially overlap. For instance, patients in their families are more concerned about quality of life, treatment, autonomy, and independent living; whereas governmental stakeholders are typically more concerned about relapse prevention and reduction of hospitalizations. As such, a volume bridging the gap between theoretical notions and practical understanding of patients’ untreated aspects of their psychiatric disorders is much needed. Instead of focusing on traditional descriptions of psychopathology and diagnostic criteria, the volume guides readers to core problems for each topic, taking into account new approaches in the classification of mental disorders as proposed by DSM-5. It elaborates on much-debated controversial problems such as the assessment and treatment of psychomotor agitation, and non-adherence to treatment that impacts on the psychiatric context. With its unique approach, this volume appeals to anyone with an interest in the field, including researchers, clinicians, and trainees.
Contents
1. Unmet Needs in Modern Psychiatric Practice -- 2. Unmet Needs in Patients with Schizophrenia -- 3. The Unmet Needs for Major Depressive Disorder -- 4. Unmet Needs in Psychiatry: Bipolar Depression -- 5. Unmet Needs in Mixed States -- 6. Unmet Needs in the Treatment of Personality Disorders -- 7. Unmet Needs in the Assessment and Treatment of Psychomotor Agitation -- 8. Unmet Needs in the Management of Suicide Risk -- 9. Unmet Needs in Psychiatry Training -- 10. Unmet Needs During Residency Training Programmes in Psychiatry -- 11. Unmet Needs in Youth Mental Health: Transforming Models of Care to Improve Outcomes -- 12. Classification Systems of Mental Disorders: Where Did We Go Wrong? -- 13. Stigma: An Old Unmet Need in Psychiatric Practice.

Abstract
This book describes how assistive technology can help handicapped, elderly and acutely sick people to manage their daily lives better and stay safe in the home. It discusses how safety is understood from an ethical, technical and social perspective, and offers examples of the problems that users, their helpers and professional carers have with assistive technology in everyday situations. The book provides insights from user-centred research and uses photographs to illustrate the main topic: how users and technology can work together to ensure safety. User-focused and combining experience with research, the book will interest users of these kinds of technology, health professionals who might introduce and/or prescribe them, engineers who develop and sell assistive technological gadgets, and architects who build safe homes – as well as researchers and students who work in these fields. It provides an overview of the existing technology, examines ways to test its effectiveness from the point of view of users, health professionals and researchers from different fields (architecture, education, engineering, facility management, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, rehabilitative medicine, physiotherapy, social science and speech therapy), and lists useful addresses, websites and literature
