Abstract
Abdominal Ultrasound for Surgeons provides a comprehensive guide to the use of ultrasonography in surgical practice of abdominal diseases. The content is divided into three major sections focusing on basic principles of ultrasound, ultrasound anatomy and pathology of the abdomen, and employment of ultrasound of the abdomen in surgical practice. A final section is dedicated to the logistics of incorporating ultrasound into a surgical practice. The first section provides an introduction to the principles of ultrasonography focusing on ultrasound physics, equipment, and instrumentation. A detailed approach to the various scanning methods and image interpretation is demonstrated with illustrations, images, and video. The second section focuses on ultrasound anatomy of the abdomen. Each chapter demonstrates the normal and abnormal ultrasound anatomy of specific abdominal organ or organ systems (abdominal wall, liver, pancreas, biliary, stomach, anorectum, retroperitoneum, vascular) with illustrations and images. The current status and technique of endoscopic ultrasound of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tracks is addressed in this section. The third section provides a state-of-the-art review of the status of each major application of abdominal ultrasound in surgery. Topics range from trauma ultrasound and laparoscopic staging to techniques in ultrasound guidance and three-dimensional targeting. This section provides a comprehensive review of the employment of interventional, intraoperative, laparoscopic, transabdominal and endoscopic ultrasound. The fourth and last section addresses the practice aspects of incorporation of ultrasound into a surgical practice.

Abstract
This book aims to comprehensibly describe the minimally invasive technique including robot assisted procedures of upper abdominal cancer, including aspects such as surgical anatomy, neoadjuvant therapy and minimally invasive surgical technique, and robot assisted procedures (5 alinea). Upper abdominal oncological surgery is increasingly approached by Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS). Due to the rising experience of young surgeons with MIS, the optimal imaging obtained during the procedure and the possibility of decreasing the postoperative complications has led to an increase of quality of life without compromising the completeness of resection. The book bases its approach on the information gathered by MIS observation and the step-by-step descriptions, by using illustrations and videos of surgical procedures for oncological resections of esophageal and gastric cancer, as well as for duodenum, pancreas, spleen and liver cancers. Furthermore, this book will serve as a teaching guide, providing a present-day introduction to the increasingly sophisticated performance of surgery required by general andá specialized surgical practitioners. The reader will have access to a practical book with relevant information that guides adequate treatment.
Contents
Part I: Advantages of Minimally Invasive Surgery -- Advantages of minimally invasive surgery in upper abdominal surgery -- Part II: Esophagus and Gastro-Esophageal Junction Cancer -- Surgical anatomy of esophagus -- Endoscopic treatment of early esophageal cancer -- Neoadjuvant treatment of esophageal and gastro-esophageal cancer -- Transhiatal or transthoracic esophagectomy -- Open or minimally invasive esophagectomy after neoadjuvant therapy -- Thoracoscopic radical esophagectomy for cancer -- Total or hybrid minimally invasive esophagectomy? -- Transthoracic approach by thoracoscopy: 3 or 2 stage? -- Minimally invasive approach of gastro-esophageal junction cancer -- Robot-assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RAMIE) -- Minimally invasive esophagectomy step by step. Abstract
This is the first time a book about laparoscopy in emergency abdominal surgery has been published. Numerous articles have been published in specific surgical journals, but, until now, there has not been a book that collates all the aspects of this little-known field. The aim of this volume is to achieve a complete and easy presentation of all the implications associated with laparoscopy in emergency abdominal surgery. The book should be a manual that can be easily consulted by digestive, general, and specialized surgeons, especially in an emergency. The authors' contributions are founded on evidence-based medicine, which give the book scientific credibility, but this is coupled with their experience of daily practice, which adds an important complementary dimension to evidence-based medicine. This is balanced by an emphasis on clarity and accessibility, because the ultimate aim of the book is educational. We hope this book will be frequently consulted, in depth, not only by specialist practitioners, but also by undergraduate students, new graduates and surgeons in training.

Abstract
The SAGES Manual on the Fundamental Use of Surgical Energy (FUSE) emphasizes good communication and promotes best practice for the use of electrosurgical, ultrasonic, and microwave energy sources in the operating theatre. This manual describes the basic technology of energy sources in the operating room and demonstrates the correct use and indications of energy sources in clinical practice. It also addresses the potential complications, hazards, and errors in the use of surgical energy sources and evaluates the potential interactions of energy sources with other medical devices. Any healthcare professional who has ever picked up an energy device in the OR such as a "Bovie" , Ultrasonic or bipolar instrument will better understand how it works, when to apply it, and what are the possible hazards and errors in its use. The SAGES Manual on the Fundamental Use of Surgical Energy (FUSE) is the first volume of its kind to provide such guidance and will be of great value to surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, endoscopists, and allied health care professionals who use these devices.

Abstract
The much-anticipated revision of the second edition of The SAGES Manual: Fundamentals of Laparoscopy, Thoracoscopy, and GI Endoscopy, has been completely restructured, reorganized, and revised. The Manual has been split into two volumes for better portability. Volume I, Basic Laparoscopy and Endoscopy covers the fundamentals and procedures performed during surgical residency. Volume I will be the first volume used by students, residents, and allied healthcare professional trainees. Material has been added to these fundamentals and procedures that will also be of interest to experienced surgeons. Volume II, Advanced Laparoscopy and Endoscopy covers more advanced procedures, generally taught during fellowship. All of the sections have been reorganized with a critical eye to the needs of the modern minimal access surgeon. Two new editors have been added. Chapters have been revised by both new authors as well as many stalwart authors from previous editions. These portable handbooks cover all of the major laparoscopic and flexible endoscopic procedures in easy-to-read format. Indications, patient preparation, operative techniques, and strategies for avoiding and managing complications are included for the complete spectrum of both "gold standard" and emerging procedures in diagnostic and therapeutic laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and endoscopy. The scope, detail, and quality of the contributions confirm and demonstrate the SAGES commitment to surgical education. This manual is sure to find a home in the pocket, locker or briefcase of all gastrointestinal endoscopic surgeons and residents.
