Having day surgery (with Adult Surgical Services, Women's & Newborn Health Program, IWK Women's Site) means you will not stay at the hospital overnight. You will come to the IWK Health Centre the day of surgery, and then return home after a short stay in the Recovery Room (Post Anesthesia Care Unit- PACU).

If these muscles stretch, weaken, or become torn, the pelvic organs can fall out of place (prolapse). Prolaspe may be mild, moderate, or severe. How to insert and remove your pessary.
A tool given to patients with information they need for pre-admission, surgery day, and post-surgery (for adult gynaecology surgery at the IWK Health Centre). Patients are asked to bring the passport with them both to their pre-admission appointment and on the day of surgery. This patient passport is for urogynecology patients who will be part of an enhanced recovery pathway.
Information for women who may be experiencing vaginal dryness; painful intercourse; vulvar irritation; frequent or recurrent bladder infections; frequent or urgent voiding; or urinary leakage -- and are menopausal; perimenopausal; or being treated for cancer.
