This pamphlet provide information if you have been scheduled to have a breast biopsy in the Breast Imaging Department. You will be reassessed by a technologist and physician, given local anesthesia (freezing), and a small sample of breast tissue will be removed with a special needle. Please refer to the pamphlets you have been given for further information.
Welcome to the Diagnostic Imaging - Ultrasound Department at the IWK. The test we perform for pregnant women is called an obstetrical ultrasound exam. Your doctor may request an ultrasound at any stage in your pregnancy. One exam, done at 18 - 20 weeks, is called a screening test. This is a high detail exam of your baby and is used to check the health of your baby. Please fill out the registration form on the back of this resource.
